All moorings holders are reminded that under the terms of their lease agreement with OBCB, their mooring tackle or equipment maintenance must be carried out by a contractor who holds professional indemnity insurance.
As far as we are aware the only HSE contractors holding Professional Liability insurance and who are operating the Oban are at present are:
Kmass Marine Ltd
5 Davaar GardensOBAN PA34 4HD
07824504774
Northwest marine (Jifmar) are no longer servicing moorings
At the annual lease renewal date, the mooring holder is required to declare that a competent contractor has been instructed within the previous twelve months to inspect and maintain the mooring fit for its purpose - in order to confirm all aspects of insurance are in place according to the terms of the CEC Agreement, (The definition of a “competent contractor” is one who holds Professional Liability Insurance for his business.)
Mooring tackle or equipment inspection reports are normally valid for 6 months, with 2 inspections annually required for moorings in use year round.
While it is possible for a mooring holder to maintain his mooring tackle or equipment himself, every mooring holder must obtain a favourable inspection report from a professional contractor covering the period the mooring is in use.
Regular annual maintenance of all equipment protects the safety of owners’ moorings and vessels and ensures that negligence to maintain a mooring does not arise in the event of an incident.
OBCB will not enter into disputes between mooring holders and/or their contractors and /or their insurers.
